A note from Melody
I built Golden Pebbles to help people build calm, capable relationships with money. That work depends on trust — and protecting your information is part of how I earn it. This policy explains what I collect, why I collect it, where it lives, and what control you have. In plain language. No fine print. If anything here is unclear, contact me.
Who this policy applies to
Golden Pebbles is operated by me, Melody On, as a sole proprietorship based in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. This policy covers:
• The Golden Pebbles website (goldenpebbles.ca)
• The Golden Pebbles email subscriber list and notifications
• Any direct communication between you and me through the contact form or email
What I collect
When you subscribe to receive notifications from Golden Pebbles:
• Your email address (required)
• Your first name (optional — only if you choose to share it, so I can address you by name in emails). I do not collect mailing addresses, phone numbers, financial information, demographic data, or any other personal information through this website.
How I collect it (your consent)
Golden Pebbles relies on express consent under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You give consent by completing all three of these steps:
• Entering your email (and optionally your first name) on the signup form
• Ticking the consent checkbox confirming you'd like to be notified
• Confirming your subscription through the verification email I send to you
Without all three steps, you are not added to my email list. If you didn't actively sign up, you won't hear from me.
How I use your information
I use your email and first name only to:
• Notify you about Your Money Diary Blueprint (book launch and updates)
• Notify you when new Golden Pebbles spreadsheets or resources are released
• Send the occasional update directly related to what you signed up for
That's it. No newsletters you didn't ask for. No promotional emails for unrelated products. No marketing partnerships. No third-party advertising.
Who I share your information with
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone, ever. I do use trusted third-party service providers to operate Golden Pebbles. Your information may be stored or processed by:
• MailerLite — handles my email subscriber list and email delivery. Based in Lithuania (European Union). Privacy Policy.
• Squarespace — hosts the goldenpebbles.ca website. Based in the United States. Privacy Policy.
• Google Workspace — handles my hello@goldenpebbles.ca email. Security & Privacy.
These providers process your data and are bound by their own privacy commitments and contracts with me.
The security of your information is important to me, and I use reasonable security measures to prevent the loss, misuse, or unauthorized alteration of information under my control. However, given the inherent risks of the internet, I cannot guarantee absolute security. I cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to me, and you do so at your own risk.
Cross-border data transfer
Because MailerLite is based in the European Union and Squarespace is based in the United States, your information is processed outside of Canada. Both jurisdictions are subject to privacy laws (GDPR in the EU, various state-level laws in the US) that provide protections at a level comparable to PIPEDA. By subscribing to Golden Pebbles, you consent to this cross-border transfer of your information.
Email tracking
When I send you an email, MailerLite uses a small invisible image to detect whether you opened it. This helps me understand which content resonates with subscribers and improves the relevance of what I send. This open-tracking data is for my use only. I do not share it, sell it, or use it for advertising. If you'd prefer not to have your opens tracked, most email clients (Gmail, Apple Mail, Outlook) let you disable automatic image loading in settings.
How long I keep your information
I keep your information for as long as you remain subscribed to the Golden Pebbles email list. If you unsubscribe or request deletion, I remove your information from MailerLite within 30 days. Some minimal records (the fact that you once unsubscribed) may be retained to ensure I do not accidentally re-add you in the future. This is a safeguard, not data collection.
Your rights under PIPEDA
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:
• Access the personal information I hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate information
• Withdraw your consent at any time (by unsubscribing or contacting me)
• Request deletion of your information
• File a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (details below)
To exercise any of these rights, contact me. I respond personally to every privacy-related message within 30 days.
Cookies and website tracking
Squarespace uses essential cookies to make goldenpebbles.ca function properly (for example, remembering whether you've dismissed a banner). It also collects basic visitor and pageview data shown in my admin dashboard through its own cookies. I do not currently use third-party analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics), advertising cookies, or tracking pixels on the site.
I plan to add Google Analytics later in 2026 to better understand how readers find and use the site. Before that change takes effect, I will update this policy and notify current subscribers by email.

Children's privacy
Golden Pebbles is intended for adults. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has shared information with Golden Pebbles, please contact me and I will delete it promptly.
Third-party links
The Golden Pebbles website contains links to other websites (book retailers, financial education resources, articles, government sites). I am not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites. Please review their own privacy policies before sharing any information with them.
Changes to this policy
If I update this policy in any meaningful way, I will:
• Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
• Notify current subscribers by email before the changes take effect, where the change affects how I handle your information
Minor edits (typos, clarifications, link updates) will not trigger a notification.
